Lipitor Shows Strong Anti-Ischemia Benefit
Pfizer Inc. (PFE) said Lipitor showed “unexpectedly potent” reduction in myocardial ischemia in its 80 milligram dose for patients with chronic chest pain.
According to the company, the cholesterol drug reduced the occurrence of insufficient blood supply and oxygen to the heart by nearly 70% 18 weeks into a study. For 60% of patients, all ischemic events were completely eliminated by the end of the study.
