Migraine Sore Throat
Migraines and a permanent Sore Throat
Q: For the past 7 days I have been experiencing some really extreme migraines and an irritating sore throat…
The migraines only occur on a morning and an evening. And when they do they are extremely painful resulting in me not being able to move my head or get up without feeling dizzy or sickly.
The sore throat is constantly irritating as I have to keep swallowing every 20 minutes or so. It worsens on a night time too.
I’ve tried taking Ibuprofen, Paracetamol Suspension and a cough syrup (Not all together, lol) but nothing seems to help. They don’t even improve it.
I’m beginning to worry and I’m thinking of going to the doctor as a last resort as it seems quite like a minor ailment.
Any suggestions as to what it could be and how to improve it at all?
A: Sounds to me like the flu or a sinus infection. Sinus infections can cause severe sinus headaches and they also cause post-nasal drip that can irritate your throat. The flu and a cold can also do this. here’s what helps to: take a decongestant and an expectorant that last at least 12 hours. A good combination is the original 12-hour Sudafed, or Claritin-D if you are allergy-prone, along with 12 hour Mucinex. This should help the sinuses to drain and relieve sinus pressure.
